Table runner

Next up, from the same quilter who did the tulips in the previous post, was another sample made in a technique class.  This time a little runner.  This photo only shows the detail of the motifs and the full runner can be seen on the Gallery page.

Done with these two tiny pieces, I’m off to something way larger and totally new to me.

Paper-pieced tulips

This is the smallest quilt I ever had on the longarm, even my sample and test pieces exceed this size.  This little quilt measured 12” x 12”.

The quilter attended a quilt technique class and made this.  Being someone who finishes what she started she brought it to me to quilt.

Pineapple quilt

This was my very first pineapple quilt. When the quilter, from out of town, contacted me and asked for detailed quilting, I was so excited. I fall into a rut by only doing edge-to-edge quilting. The top got to me via courier, I immediately started playing with different designs and I never know what the outcome would be. It is always a pleasant surprise, when finished and mostly looking at the back, to see the end result.

A non-quilting post

When we purchased this house in April 2022, we inherited this totally outdated bathroom.  Yes, it does appeal to some but definitely not me.  I hated the pillars (more stuff to be cleaned), we also only found out afterwards that the jets in the bathtub did not work, or at least there was a leak and the water, which in itself was a massive amount due to the size of the bathtub, never reached the jets.

This before photo was of the bathroom coming in from the bedroom.

Then the shower was too tiny to our taste and we needed bigger.

The tiny shower was hidden behind the door.

In February of this year, hubby started all by his lonesome self to renovate this.  He is quite the handyman but did acknowledge he is not much of a plumber but took a leap of faith and continued.

This was what it looked like on day 8

Working all by himself, it took some time to finish, but luckily, we could use a second bathroom.

At the beginning of June, we could move back to the main bathroom and I am so pleased with the outcome.

We chose a standard-sized bathtub but made the shower much bigger.

Off to continue with the current quilt on the frame.

Triangles for a first-time grandchild

This quilter is known for her brightly coloured quilts. When the kids decided their baby's room must be primarily grey, she was taken out of her comfort zone.

The quilt is big enough for a single bed, so the little one will have many years of use from this. Grandma-to-be did not disappoint, even though not fond of the colours, she still produced a stunning quilt.

She decided just to have soft waves to be quilted and it suits the rest of this ‘quiet’ quilt.

Final in the 4 series shirt quilts

I had many quilting plans for the past weekend, but the grandkids decided it was time to be with the old folks.  I had the little one Saturday morning and when the older kids came over late afternoon to watch rugby and barbeque the older two stayed over for the night.

Thus, this quilt could only be loaded and done on Monday morning. This then concludes the fourth and final shirt quilt for one family by this quilter and I believe she is now looking forward to something new.

Ground cover

Now this was just the quilt I needed after the previous very emotional quilt.  Light, bright and colourful.

This is a free Riley Blake Design and with a solid background colour one can use up many of your remnant fabric.

An emotional memory quilt

I’ve quilted a couple of memory quilts, mostly from used clothing fabric, this one, however, was different.

This quilt had pictures of the young man who lost his life in a car accident and working on the quilt, while those beautiful young eyes stared back at me, knowing they are no more, had me emotional a couple of times.  I just could not imagine how the parents must feel.

This was made by his aunt for her sister, as it is the sister’s child.  She used some of his clothing fabric too and I believe it will make an amazing memory for the whole family.

The full quilt can be seen on the Gallery page.
