Another big one finished

I’ve just noticed that it has been 2 weeks since my previous post but then it must be exactly how long it took me to finish this last quilt.  This was a big one 86 x 86 inches and I just had to choose the two most tedious designs in one quilt – pebbles and small scale feathers!

I’ve also noticed that the quilters in my area prefer to work with multi-colored or heavily printed fabric which makes the actual quilting disappear on the quilt but then they want to show off their piecing skills and not my quilting abilities.  The loft of the batting readily available over here is also extremely low, so the quilting often looks non-existing.

Some of the less printed backs however show off the quilting beautifully, like the back of this quilt.

A close up of some of the motifs on the front and I had to unpick 17 of the feathers in the grey border due to bad tension – it was really not a fun thing to do.

  1. Hettie, Had you thought of using two batts They do make a better lofting effect. You have come a long way on your longarm. Chris
