Huge postage stamp quilt

On Wednesday a quilter brought her top to be quilted; a huge 102” x 102” topper and I couldn’t believe how heavy this turned out to be with all those 1” squares. Upon measuring her backing it turned out it was too small so we made rather sudden plans to get hold of a larger backing.

I was able to load the quilt late Thursday afternoon and get a start on this.  Because the quilt was already so colourful and busy the quilter requested the quilt motif not to be too dense and I then selected a large all-over loose swirl.  This went fast, you start left and end right, no brainpower involved.

I finished it on Friday evening, checked for neat tension this morning and it is good to be returned to the quilter for binding.  And the VERY BEST part of this whole quilt was that the quilter brought me a much-appreciated bottle of dry white wine on top of paying me for the quilting.  I think, in future, I should hint for tips??!!

If you are not South African, you may not understand this, but with our lockdown came the ban on selling/buying cigarettes and alcohol.  Truly bad, bad, bad!!!

The Stash Buster Challenge 2020 – Part 2

I am slowly but surely making progress with this.  I am now two-thirds done and just need to add 4 more rows at the bottom.  I am glad to have used so many fabrics in my scrap drawers to make this one. As said in my previous post, there are heaps of ways to lay these blocks out and get different looks.  I opted for this layout though.
